Back to Regular Bikram Practice

As my paper production winds down, I'm able to get back to my 5 times per week practice..and boy can I feel the difference!
With all my time being taken up with school and only being able to practice once a week (if that), I hadn't realized how much it had affected me physically, mentally and emotionally. My stress levels had reached an all time high.
I'm now back to my regular schedule, more or less, and, after 4 straight days of classes, I feel so much better-no more road rage, short tempers or stress. It's almost magical the way this practice affects you. I'm sure my friends will all be happy that I'm doing this again! ;)
My Information Research and Technology class ends tomorrow night and this Blog is my final exam. I'm pushing for an A-so wish me luck!

Winding Down

I'm definitely in the home stretch. After busting my butt for the last week, I just have some financial work to adjust, and then I'm done (I hope I didn't just jinx myself again). I'm actually finding time for yoga again, which is a good thing.

I had a great class yesterday. After being away for a week, I was afraid that I would collapse in class-it didn't happen! Of course it helped that the window was accidently left open for half the class, so it was only about 100 degrees instead of 105. I'm going back this afternoon-maybe I'll see if I can open the window myself today-only kidding.

More paperwork

A lot's gone on in the last few days... I submitted my final draft a few days ago, had a few beers, relaxed...got more corrections e-mailed to me, and am now typing again!

I have my computer class tomorrow which is perfect timing, since our faculty advisor has given us stuff to correct and hopefully, i'll have some of it done by then. I'll keep you posted..

Almost Done!

The good news is that I'm finishing up my Master's thesis, the bad news is that I've been locked up in my house typing and am unable to get to my favorite Bikram studio.

I have to turn in my final draft by Tuesday evening, so I'm packing a lot of activity into a small period of time-so what else is new, I guess.

Once I finish this thing I'm going to try to get to yoga every day for at least a week to reward myself and hopefully get back on track with my practice. It's certainly hard to maintain your level of practice when you only get to the studio once or twice a week.

Back to the paper- See ya!

Whew!

Well, the yoga worked again! I came home from class last night relaxed and stress-free and was able to fix my computer issues-to a point. I'm sitting in class tonight waiting for my professor to fix the other issues. Our Research and Technology professor has beeen invaluable in helping us with our papers. She sets aside part of our class as a computer lab to give each one of us individual attention for our Master's theses.

The pressure is on us, since our Faculty Advisor is requesting our final draft to be turned in to her by next Tuesday...tick..tick...tick. It's actually not a bad thing, especially for people like myself who need deadlines and do better with a little pressure. I hope I didn't just jinx myself!! :)

Oh sh****

Well-it's turned into one of those days. I've spent the day working on my paper and just realized that I've somehow deleted my entire Appendix section-I would have rather had my real appendix removed. I'm trying to find it somewhere on my computer, which has led to the urge to throw my laptop through the window.

Luckily I'm leaving for yoga in a half hour, which will certainly calm me down and will probably give me the mental focus to solve the problem.

Wish me luck!

Back to "typing away"!

Had a great class tonight! The room was packed, but it wasn't as humid for some reason. The energy in the room was motivating-it encouraged you and seem to give you strength.

Now I'm at home and am typing away on my paper (I just snuck away for a minute to write on the blog). As I thought might happen, I'm energized by this evening's class and am barrelling through the business plan-hopefully the numbers work out okay!!

Need to get back!

I haven't been to Bikram for a few days and can feel it-I'm a lot more sluggish. I'll be able to go tomorrow night after work so that'll revitalize me and help me get my paper done sooner.

I'm working on my financials this evening, which is probably why I'm typing on this blog (yes, I'm a master procrastinator). Maybe I'll do laundry after I finish typing on the blog. :)

Bikram Yoga

I’m sitting in my computer class studying the blogs we’ve created in class.

I’ve just realized that I keep mentioning Bikram Yoga in my posts but have never explained exactly what Bikram Yoga is!

Bikram Yoga is a 90 minute yoga class performed in a room heated to approximately 105 degrees. Twenty six postures and two breathing exercises(each one performed twice). When I first tried it I thought it was extremely difficult and painful (I still feel that way sometimes!). I was told by a friend that it can be incredibly addictive. After my first class I told my friend that he was crazy-who could get addicted to that torture? Twisted into various pretzel shapes, completely drenched in sweat, who could enjoy that? Well, now I understand and even revel in the addiction.

I have learned so much in these classes. My type A personality has certainly mellowed out a bit. I can leave class, drive home, get cut off by a crazed driver on rt. 128, and just shake my head and smile-no swearing, hand gestures, horns, etc. It has helped so much with my stress levels. Physically, I have also changed-20 less pounds, three inches off my waist, no more back or knee pain-it’s almost miraculous!

January has been an interesting month for practicing this form of yoga. The New Years resolution crowd has filled each class to almost overflowing. It really bothered me during my first few classes in January-the humidity almost overpowered me. I realized, though, that I had no control over that. During the next few classes I tried to embrace the humidity and use it in my practice-it actually worked! I was able to improve my focus and my breathing.

My studio currently has a 30 day challenge going on. This involves attending class for 30 days straight. I can’t do that now with my school schedule, but will do it once I graduate in June.

That’s all for now…Good night!

Testing BlogJet

I have installed an interesting application - BlogJet. It's a cool Windows client for my blog tool (as well as for other tools). Get your copy here: http://blogjet.com

Bikram class

I went to a class today and was energized...as usual. I know people can experience different things during and after a class- I'm always energized and clear headed for a long period of time after a class. This state can be very helpful when putting a thesis together!

I'm making great progress in the paper-I'm almost done with all of Dr. Wulf's suggestions. I'm saving the financials for the end-an excellent example of procrastination.
